The best time to visit Laos is during the dry season, from November to March. The weather is pleasantly warm and less humid—great for exploring temples in Luang Prabang, cruising the Mekong River, or enjoying the nature around Vang Vieng. Try to avoid the rainy season (May to October) when some roads may become difficult to travel.

Laotian food is simple but flavorful. Popular dishes include laap (a spicy minced meat or tofu salad), khao soi (noodle soup), and sticky rice, which is eaten with almost every meal.
