The Champagne-Ardenne region of northeastern France was named in 2016 after the historic provinces of Champagne and Ardenne. The last mentioned is a department in the Grand Est region and a mountain area connecting Belgium, Luxembourg, and France.

The name Champagne has an exuberant effect, but the region’s beautiful green landscapes give the opposite effect—calmness. Discover the beauty on foot or by bike, taste the royal nectar in the Champagne cellar, and discover good French gastronomy. Historical monuments honor the fallen during the Second World War in Rilly La Montagne. Champagne-Ardenne in France had a strategic location between east and west. It became the center of many battles during the war.

Among lakes and villages in Champagne-Ardenne

Visit Reims, Troyes, Charleville-Mezieres, Chalons-en-Champagne, Langres and Sedan. Cozy town squares with outdoor seating provide space for breaks between visits to churches, museums, and historical sites. Wine tasting is a must and becomes extra memorable when the wine is tasted in authentic surroundings. Try sailing, fishing, water skiing, rowing, or enjoying a swim—the region is also known for its lakes and canals.
