Corsica
The first stop on Corsica is usually the capital, Ajaccio, located on the west coast of the island. But the journey never stops there. Furthermore, the trip can continue to the cities of Bonifacio, Solenzera, and Calvi if the car is at hand. High mountains, beautiful countryside, and warm hospitality will meet you when you travel through Corsica.
The capital, Ajaccio, was founded by the Romans and is a popular tourist destination with lively boat traffic between the mainland and the island. Bonifacio is located at Bonifacio bay in southern Corsica. Parts of the city are built on rocks. The city annually attracts travelers worldwide who enjoy the narrow alleys with old houses balancing on the edge of the limestone cliffs.
Travel to Corsica – discover the cities of the Island
Sari-Solenzara—L’Île-Rousse Isula Rossa, “The Red Island,” is in Corsica’s northwestern part. The city was founded in 1765 by Pasquale Paoli. A monument with a bust of him is in the city. Another very nice town is Calvi, which is also located on the west coast north of Ajaccio. On one side of Calvi lies the great citadel of the 1400s. Nearby are both sea cliffs and a long white sandy beach.
