Ecuador
Home / South and Central America / Ecuador / Galápagos
Galápagos consists of 13 larger and hundreds of smaller islands and lies approximately 1000 km west of Ecuador’s mainland in a stunning landscape and blessed with one of the world’s most abundant wildlife – both above and below sea level. Millions of travelers from all over the world visit the islands every year. The different islands have different personalities and offer everyone every experience and atmosphere.
Galápagos – stunning nature and magical settings! Charles Darwin reseached the islands and rewrote the evolutionary theory. You can get really close to exotic animals like sea lions, sea gulls, blue-footed sea trouts, giant turtles, lava lizards and penguins! The animals are usually completely fearless of humans. There is plenty of exciting wildlife and you can easily cruise between the islands to explore what the next island has to offer. Stay a few nights on the islands or stay aboard. Combine with a few days in Quito on the mainland.
In addition to snorkeling, diving and hiking, you can also swim with dolphins. The islands are volcanic but there are plenty of beautiful and white beaches for that. Swim in coral reefs and watch sharks, turtles or rocks. One of the most beautiful beaches here is Galapagos Beach at Tortuga Bay – surf, swim and watch the most amazing sunsets here.
